Recycling
Residential recycling is strongly encouraged in the City of Santa Clarita. To make it easy, Santa Clarita has a commingled residential recycling program for all residents of single family homes, apartments, condominiums, and mobile home parks. Commingled residential recycling allows residents to place mixed recyclables in one container.

How to Prepare Your Recycling
- Rinse and flatten cans, milk cartons, and jugs to save space and energy
- Metal jar lids can be placed with your tin cans
- No need to remove labels
- Plastic bags are only recyclable if they have the recycling symbol. They can be included with the rest of your recyclables.
- To bag your plastic bags, combine all your grocery store plastic bags, dry cleaning plastic bags, or any other plastic bags in a plastic bag. Residents should then place the bagged plastic bags in the recycling bin.

Multi-family Recycling
If you live in a multi-family complex (apartment, condominium, townhome) and don’t currently recycle, there is no better time to start! Contact your Homeowners Association or Management Company to locate the recycle bins available to you. If your complex does not currently recycle, contact Waste Management at (661) 259-2398. Waste Management will assist you in designing a customized program to fit your recycling needs.
Green Waste
Do you have a lot of yard trimmings? Recycling green waste in the City is also FREE. And you can have as many free green waste containers (grey cart) as you want! The green waste collected in your green waste cart is composted locally and used locally for various projects.
Please Remember: No plastic bags in the greenwaste bins.

Clothing Recycling
Before you place your old clothes in your blue trash container, try donating them to those in need. Call local non-profits and see if you can donate them. Goodwill has four donation centers here in the City.
