- The overall reduction in vehicle miles travelled for all services resulted in a savings of over 34,000 gallons of gasoline.
- Public transportation produces 95% less carbon monoxide and over 92% fewer volatile organic compounds for every passenger mile travelled.
- Santa Clarita Transit currently operates a fleet of 91 vehicles.
- Over 40% of the vehicles in the fleet are powered by clean burning compressed natural gas.
- The current vehicle fleet not only meets but exceeds local air quality standards. In fact the newest buses meet 2012 air quality standards.

TRANSIT ACCESS PASS: Santa Clarita Transit has upgraded to the Transit Access Pass (TAP), Los Angeles County’s new bus fare payment card. This card will eventually replace all paper passes and free riders from hauling around exact change.
By making this move, Santa Clarita Transit has removed over 77,000 pieces of paper and reduced our carbon foot print!
Not only does TAP work on all City of Santa Clarita Transit local and commuter routes, but also on all METRO bus and rail lines, making it easier than ever to connect with destinations outside of Santa Clarita. Are you ready to TAP?
ROUTES AND SCHEDULES: Santa Clarita Transit has 13 local bus routes to provide you with fast, reliable service in air-conditioned comfort. All of the City of Santa Clarita Transit routes are wheelchair accessible and bicycles are welcome. These routes run daily according to the published schedule, except on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.
The City of Santa Clarita Transit Commuter Express offers a convenient, cost-effective, comfortable way to travel to Los Angeles, Warner Center, North Hollywood, Van Nuys, Century City and the Antelope Valley. Skip the stress of driving in morning traffic and enjoy your commute in a reclining seat with ample leg room and overhead lighting for reading.
THE TRANSIT MAINTENANCE FACILITY: The City of Santa Clarita’s Transit Maintenance Facility (TMF) is the home of Santa Clarita Transit. This cutting edge green building is a LEED Gold Certified structure. The facility includes a variety of innovative design features including straw bale insulated exterior walls, under-floor heating and cooling systems, recycled building materials, water efficient landscaping, day lighting features, facility shading devices, high-efficiency lighting fixtures with motion sensors and daylight dimming controls, and compressed natural gas fuel technology. The facility also houses an 11,500 square foot solar canopy used to produce electricity.
