ePlans, Santa Clarita’s Online Development Application System, is now available

ePlans is an easy-to-use internet-based application for electronic plan submittal, review, correspondence, and approval. It offers an alternative to working with printed plans during the plan check process.

How does the system benefit customers?

PlanePlans reduces the time and money spent printing and delivering paper plans. ePlans was designed for users with little to no computer experience and offers step by step instructions (http://www.santa-clarita.com/eplans). The system is available to anyone choosing to submit electronic documents for review.

How does ePlans work?

When a project or permit application is accepted by the City of Santa Clarita, a unique and secure ePlans project website is created. Project applicants are invited via email, to access the project, which may be accessed wherever the internet is available. Drawings are uploaded directly through a web browser.

What other agencies will be using ePlans?

The City of Santa Clarita is seeking the cooperation of City and County agencies which are part of the entitlement and/or permit process.

Are there any fees associated with using ePlans?

No. ePlans is a free service provided by the City of Santa Clarita.

Will I need to access ePlans regularly to check the status of my project?

No. ePlans automatically sends out e-mail notifications at pertinent steps of the plan review process.

Is ePlans secure?

Yes. A password protected login is required to access each project within ePlans.

Do I need any special hardware or software to use ePlans?

ePlans is accessed via the Internet using any major web browser. A high-speed internet connection is recommended.

Internet Explorer is recommended to take advantage of advanced features and requires the additional download of software from the ePlans login page. For more information, please visit the ePlans information page at: www.santa-clarita.com/eplans.

Can I submit a project/permit application or schedule an inspection using ePlans?

The City is currently exploring options to process permit applications and accept application fees electronically. Inspection requests will continue to be scheduled as usual.

How are project plans accessed, once approved?

When the project plans are electronically approved, approval stamps and any pertinent comments are “burned” into the drawing. The drawings are saved as PDF files. The approved plan set can be printed over the web or downloaded for distribution to the general contractor and bidders.
