Free Compost & Mulch Program
Free Compost and Mulch are available to residents within the City of Santa Clarita!

Step 1: Visit agromin.com to start your order.
Step 2: Create an account.
Step 3: Select your material type (Cover Mulch or Compost 100).
Step 4: Select your preferred quantity and head to “My Cart” to checkout. Note: The minimum amount for pickup is ½ cubic yard (covers about 50 square feet with a 3-inch depth). The maximum is 15 cubic yards for Compost and 20 cubic yards for Cover Mulch per online order.
Step 5: Enter “billing” info and select pickup.
Step 6: At final checkout, enter the coupon code CITYOSCCOM25 for Compost 100 or CITYOSCCM25 for Cover Mulch.
Step 7: Bring email confirmation of your order, proof of address within the City of Santa Clarita (I.D. or utility bill) and a pickup truck or open-top trailer to pick up your compost at Burrtec (26000 Springbrook Ave, Unit 202, Santa Clarita, 91350) during business hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS: Turn off Railroad Avenue onto Drayton Street. Turn left on Springbrook Ave. The facility is located on the right about a ¼ mile down the road. (see map below)

Step 7: Pay the designated delivery fee.

1 cubic yard equals about 1 standard truck bed. 15 cubic yards will fill about 1 bobtail truck.

Trucks or trailers only. Staff will help load your truck or trailer using heavy equipment. (Cars will not be loaded)

No, this program is only offered to residents in the City of Santa Clarita. Residents outside of these limits will be unable to pick up products or have them delivered. Please check with your local jurisdiction for programs available in your area.

Yes, Compost 100 is OMRI listed and certified as organic.

Compost is an excellent soil amendment for vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees since it contains no animal materials or biosolids. There are several ways you can use compost at home. Here are a few ideas:

1. Use it as a soil amendment: Mix compost into your garden soil to improve its structure, fertility, and water-holding capacity. For best results, add a layer of compost to your garden beds in the fall or early spring, and mix it in with a garden fork or tiller.
2. Use it as a top dressing: Spread a thin layer of compost over your lawn, garden beds, or potted plants to provide a slow-release source of nutrients. Be sure to avoid smothering the plants’ stems or crowns.
3. Make compost tea: Steep a handful of compost in a bucket of water for a few days, stirring occasionally, to create a nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer. Dilute the compost tea with water and use it to water your plants.
4. Use it as a seed starting mix: Mix compost with vermiculite or perlite to create a nutrient-rich seed starting mix that promotes healthy seedling growth.
